Stainless Steel Sheet for Furniture & Modular Kitchens: Grades & Finishes

Jindal Stainless supplies the flat-rolled stock behind an ss sheet for modular kitchen work: material that gets cut to size, finished, and handed to a fabricator who turns it into a countertop, cabinet carcass, shutter, drawer, almirah or steel furniture surface. Pick a stainless steel sheet for furniture and modular kitchens by one rule. Grade 304 goes on the countertop, cabinet carcass and drawers, since these deal with food contact and moisture near the sink and hob. Decorative shutters, almirah and steel furniture that stay dry can run on 304 or the cheaper 202 / J4. Finish matters too. Interiors and carcass work call for 2B. Fronts that need to hide marks should get a No.4 hairline finish. Premium shutters can take mirror or PVD. Grade 430 costs less and works fine for indoor, dry decorative jobs, but it's magnetic, so keep it away from anything requiring non-magnetic performance. Every sheet conforms to ASTM A240 / IS 6911, and each shipment comes with a mill test certificate.

Relinox Stainless holds an authorized MoU partnership with Jindal Stainless Limited (JSL) for stainless flat products. That's not Jindal SAW, JSW or JSPL, which deal in carbon steel and pipes, and it isn't SAIL Salem either. We supply genuine JSL-melted ss sheet for furniture and modular kitchens: the modular kitchen wali SS sheet and almirah wali sheet the trade keeps asking for, not re-rolled bazaar stock. Everything gets cut to your sizes and dispatched pan-India from our Ajmeri Gate, Delhi stock point, one of Delhi's main stainless steel markets. Our scope here covers domestic and residential furniture and modular-kitchen units; commercial catering fit-out falls under a separate scope, covered in the related applications below.

Which stainless steel grade for a modular kitchen or furniture?

The question of which grade suits a modular kitchen, 304 or 202, has a clean answer. Grade 304 is austenitic, resists corrosion and staining, and is safe for food contact, so it becomes the default for wet and food zones: countertops, the cabinet carcass near the sink, and drawers. 202 and J4 are 200-series grades. They cost less, but they hold up worse against corrosion, so save them for dry, decorative work instead: shutter fronts, almirah, wardrobe and steel furniture that never sees standing water. 430 is a different case entirely, a ferritic, magnetic grade meant only for indoor dry decorative panels. The table below lays out the buyer's requirement map: unit, recommended grade, the reasoning behind it, typical finish and an indicative thickness in mm and gauge. Grade behavior follows composition per ASTM A240, and the thickness band shown is a typical working range; the specifier should confirm it on the RFQ.

Grades come straight from Jindal's flat product line, conforming to ASTM A240 / IS 6911, with MTC on hand. Wondering is ss 202 ok or safe for modular kitchen work? The SS 202 vs 304 guide walks through that decision. For wet-zone food contact, the food-grade stainless steel guide breaks down what "food-safe" means and what a food-grade sheet for kitchen countertop should actually look like.

Grade pages worth bookmarking: SS 304, SS 304L, SS 202, Jindal J4, SS 430, and the grades index if you want the whole set at once.

Finishes for kitchen shutters, cabinets & furniture

Finish gets picked at the unit level, a working surface, a hidden interior and a decorative front each call for something different. The table lines up each finish with its look, how it handles fingerprints and scratches, which unit it suits, and the page that owns the finish entity. Designer finishes are job-work applied to Jindal base sheet.

2B / matte finish sheet for cabinet interiors

A 2B / matte finish sheet for cabinet interiors is the default choice for carcass, drawer boxes and the underside of a countertop. It's economical, it's hygienic, and it's easy to wipe clean. Where nobody sees it, it simply does its job and stays out of the way.

Hairline / No.4 brushed finish for shutters & fronts

The hairline / No.4 brushed finish for shutters & fronts is the trade workhorse for visible surfaces: its directional brush lines hide fingerprints and day-to-day scratches, which is why fabricators default to it for modular kitchen shutter, front and door sheet. See the finishes explained guide.

Mirror & PVD colour for premium shutters

For a mirror finish sheet for kitchen shutter, the finish entity and its selection live on mirror finish SS sheets. Colour, on a PVD, gold, rose-gold or black sheet for modular kitchen shutters and fronts, works differently: it's a PVD layer sitting on the base sheet. Details are on PVD colour SS sheets.

Etched, water-ripple & embossed: anti-fingerprint decorative

An etched designer sheet for shutters and a water-ripple, embossed or textured furniture sheet bring in pattern and depth; texture is really what lets an anti-fingerprint / no-fingerprint kitchen shutter sheet earn its name. Check out etched, water-ripple and embossed SS sheets, plus the designer finishes hub for shutters and furniture.

Unit-by-unit guide

Each unit maps to a grade, a finish and a thickness band. Edge profiles, handles and trims come from strip, ss patta / patti for edge profiles & handles, which routes to SS patta / strips.

Countertops & worktops

A ss countertop, worktop or kitchen platform top sheet is the surface that touches food and moisture, so it's 304 in hairline or 2B, usually 1.0–1.5 mm thick for a firm platform. This is the sheet people mean by food-grade sheet for kitchen countertop, 304 stands up to food acids and resists staining.

Cabinet carcass

The ss sheet for modular kitchen cabinet or carcass goes in the wet zone near the sink and hob, in 2B, formable enough to press and fold into the box. For general ss sheet for cabinets away from water, you can look at a budget grade. But the carcass holding the sink stays 304.

Shutters & fronts

The modular kitchen shutter, front and door sheet is decorative and meant for indoor use, so it comes in 304 or the cheaper 202, with a hairline, mirror, PVD or etched finish. It's on dry, visible surfaces that the budget grade actually earns its keep.

Drawers, baskets & tandem boxes

The SS drawer, basket and tandem box sheet carries food and gets washed often. That's why it's 304 in 2B, typically 0.6–1.0 mm. Light, hygienic, and easy to clean.

Almirah, wardrobe & cabinets

For an ss sheet for almirah (the almirah ki sheet), and for an ss sheet for wardrobe, cupboard or storage unit, dry storage furniture typically runs on a budget grade of 202/J4 for cost savings. Where humidity is a concern, or where a premium finish matters, 304 is the better pick. This covers the classic ss cabinet sheet inquiry, and it's also what comes up under ss sheet for kitchen cabinet in india.

Steel furniture surfaces

A stainless steel furniture sheet, an ss table top sheet, panel or storage surface, comes in 304 for wet or premium use and 202 for indoor decorative work. Pick the finish to match the look you're after: hairline, mirror or PVD.

Sheet sizes, thickness & gauge for cabinets & countertops

We supply standard Indian market sizes and cut-to-size to your module dimensions. The 8x4, 4x10 and 5x10 ss sheet for modular kitchen are the common full sheets. Most furniture and kitchen work uses 0.5–1.5 mm stock, so ss sheet thickness / gauge for cabinet & countertop comes down to a per-unit call. Check the stocked thickness against your indent on the RFQ.

Fabrication & cut-to-size for modular kitchens

We cut and shear full sheet down to your cabinet, shutter and countertop sizes, and we slit strip for edges and handles. A fabricator gets material that's ready to fold, bend and put together. Cutting and shearing, PVD, mirror or etched or embossed finishing, and patta slitting all come as services, job-work done on Jindal base sheet, not something we claim as in-house mill lines. Sheet ships with protective film when specified. Bending, folding and final assembly happen on the fabricator's own line. Send us your cut list with grade, finish and thickness, and we'll confirm it on the RFQ.

Food safety & material assurance

For a food-contact surface, the countertop, the carcass near the sink, the drawer, 304 is the right austenitic choice; the cheaper 200-series grades belong on dry decorative work instead. Material conforms to ASTM A240 / IS 6911 as produced by Jindal Stainless and ships with a mill test certificate. That's mill conformance, not a Relinox certification. We're a Jindal Stainless MoU partner, so the material is genuine JSL-melted stock with paperwork behind it, not re-rolled bazaar stock. Standards detail: ASTM A240 and IS 6911; the food-grade stainless steel guide explains what "food-grade" actually means before you specify, and quality & MTC covers the certificate itself.

Why source furniture & modular-kitchen SS sheet from Relinox

Relinox holds the field whether the search runs for an ss sheet for modular kitchen dealer or distributor, an ss sheet for furniture stockist, a modular kitchen ss sheet trader or trader in delhi, or an ss sheet for furniture supplier or supplier in india. On positioning, let's be precise: Relinox is a distributor, stockist and supplier of Jindal-produced stainless. It's never described as a "manufacturer" of the steel itself. That's the honest way to describe an authorized channel supplying mill-certified material. Search for an ss sheet for modular kitchen dealer near me, and you'll land on our Delhi stock point. Resellers working out of other cities can start from the locations index instead. For more on how this works, see the Jindal MoU partnership.

Request a quote with MTC, send your RFQ. Interior contractors and designers can use the same RFQ form to request finish samples.

Commercial kitchen equipment, worktables, sinks, hoods, is one adjacent use case. Finished utensils & kitchenware is another, and wall cladding & interiors rounds out the third. Each sits at a different scope. See also kitchen equipment for the first category.

FAQ

Which stainless steel grade is best for a modular kitchen?

For the countertop, cabinet carcass and drawers, go with 304, it resists corrosion and staining and is safe for food contact near the sink and hob. Budget 202 / J4 belongs only on dry decorative shutters, almirah and furniture, while 430 is fine for indoor dry decorative work and nothing else. See SS 304.

Is SS 202 good or safe for modular kitchens and furniture?

202 is a lower-cost 200-series grade, fine for dry, decorative shutters, almirah and furniture. It's less corrosion-resistant than 304, though, so for wet zones, countertops and food contact, choose 304 instead. Compare in the SS 202 vs 304 guide.

Which grade for a stainless steel kitchen countertop?

304 stands up to food acids, moisture and staining, which makes it the standard food-contact grade for a worktop. See the food-grade stainless steel guide for more.

What finish is used on modular-kitchen shutters and cabinets?

2B matte works well for carcass interiors, drawers and the countertop base. No.4 hairline suits fronts because it hides fingerprints and scratches. For premium and anti-fingerprint shutters, go with mirror, PVD gold/rose-gold/black, or etched/water-ripple/embossed finishes. See finishes explained.

What thickness of SS sheet is used for cabinets and countertops?

0.5–1.5 mm depending on the unit, generally thinner for drawers and interiors and thicker for countertops, though the exact gauge comes down to what the specifier calls for. Check the RFQ for the stocked thickness before assuming.

Which sheet size do you supply for modular kitchens and almirah?

Standard 8x4 (1250×2500), 4×10 (1250×3050) and 5×10 (1500×3000) mm, along with cut-to-size options matched to cabinet, shutter and module dimensions. Full details are on the sizes & thickness page.

Is stainless steel furniture magnetic?

304 and 202 (austenitic) run largely non-magnetic. 430 (ferritic) is magnetic, though, a quick magnet test is one way to tell a budget 430 decorative panel from 304.

Can you supply sheet already cut to my cabinet and shutter sizes with a finish?

Jindal base sheet, cut to size or sheared, then finished the way you want it: 2B, hairline, mirror, PVD, etched, or embossed. All of it's job-work. Send over your cut list with the RFQ and we'll take it from there.

Is your material genuine Jindal Stainless, and do I get a mill test certificate?

Jindal Stainless (JSL) has Relinox on as an MoU partner. The material Relinox supplies is JSL-melted, and a mill test certificate ships with it on dispatch. This isn't re-rolled bazaar stock. See quality & MTC.

Do you supply SS patta or strip for edge profiles and handles?

Yes, we carry strip and patta-patti for edges, handles and trims. See SS patta / strips.

Do you deliver outside Delhi?

Yes, our stock point is at Ajmeri Gate, Delhi, and we dispatch pan-India. Send us your delivery location on the RFQ, and we'll confirm logistics from there.

What does modular-kitchen or furniture SS sheet cost?

The rate depends on grade, finish, thickness and quantity, so we don't fix a number here, see the dated indicative price list and confirm today's rate on the RFQ.
