Hole patterns & specifications
Perforation comes down to three things: the hole pattern, the hole size, and the pitch, which is the centre-to-centre spacing. Together they set the open area percentage, the fraction of the sheet taken up by holes. Weight of perforated sheet
Perforated-sheet weight equals solid-sheet weight minus the removed open area. In other words, solid-sheet weight × solid-area fraction (100% − open area %). So a sheet with 40% open area weighs about 60% of what the equivalent solid sheet weighs. That's the answer to both perforated ss sheet weight and perforated ss sheet weight chart queries. The table lists the solid base-sheet weight for a standard 8x4 (1250×2500 mm) sheet at 8.0 g/cc. Multiply by the solid fraction to get the perforated weight.
