Stainless Steel Circles: Jindal SS Circles for Utensils & Cookware (Pan-India Supply)

A stainless steel circle is a round, flat-rolled blank, cut or punched from SS sheet or coil. It's sold by diameter (mm) and thickness (mm/gauge), and it's the standard starting point for deep-drawn utensils, cookware, pressure cooker bodies and end covers. Relinox Stainless supplies genuine, Jindal-melted SS circles across the full grade range, cut to your diameter, with a mill test certificate (MTC) included. We dispatch pan-India from our Ajmeri Gate, Delhi stock point.

Stainless steel circles being formed into utensils with heat

Relinox holds authorized MoU partner status with Jindal Stainless Limited (JSL) for stainless flat products. That means every stainless steel circle plate we ship is genuine JSL material, never a re-rolled bazaar blank. Send your grade, diameter, thickness and quantity through the RFQ form, and you'll get today's rate.

Jindal Stainless Limited (JSL) is what "Jindal" refers to here, stainless flat products out of the Hisar and Jajpur mills. It doesn't mean Jindal SAW, Jindal (India) Ltd, JSW Steel, or Jindal Steel & Power, which deal in carbon steel and pipes. Relinox handles only JSL stainless flat products.

What is a stainless steel circle?

A stainless steel circle, also known as an ss circle plate, ss round plate, ss circle blank or stainless steel round blank, is a round disc blanked from a larger sheet or coil and sold by diameter and thickness. In the North-Indian utensil trade, people call the same disc a circle patti or gol patti. It's a single flat blank with no weld or join, so it goes straight into a press for deep drawing, spinning or pressing.

Circles are what most stainless kitchenware starts from: a utensil circle or cookware circle gets drawn into thalis, tope/patila, kadai, tumblers and pressure cooker bodies, and thicker blanks turn into dish-ends and covers for fabrication. Everything downstream comes down to two variables. The grade governs formability and corrosion resistance. The diameter × thickness sets how deep and how heavy the drawn part can be.

Grades of SS circle: which to choose

Grade choice is a trade-off between draw-ability, corrosion resistance and cost. The economical 200-series and J-series grades dominate everyday utensils; 304/316 austenitics get used where food safety or corrosion resistance is specified, and 430 ferritic suits induction-friendly cookware and cutlery. Every grade listed here is genuine Jindal material with an MTC. Composition and mechanical values follow the standard published figures per ASTM A240 / IS 6911.

For deep-drawn work, a deep draw circle (or deep drawing circle) usually gets made in 202, 204Cu or J4. Their formability lets the press pull a deeper part without splitting. Grades on the verify list, for example 317L, 304H, 301LN, are available against indent or on request rather than ex-stock. Compare compositions on the linked grade pages, or read our food-grade stainless steel guide before you settle on a utensil grade.

Sizes, thickness & finishes

We cut circles to whatever diameter you need. The table below lists the SS circle sizes we commonly supply, diameter, thickness and gauge, along with finish. Exact stocked and producible diameter and thickness ranges get confirmed on the RFQ, so send us your diameter and thickness and we'll quote what's cuttable.

Diameter (mm)Thickness (mm)Gauge (approx.)FinishTypical use
~100–2500.5–0.826–22 G2B / BASmall utensils, tumblers, lids
~250–4500.8–1.222–18 G2B / BA / mirrorThali, tope/patila, cookware
~450–7001.2–2.018–14 G2B / No.1Kadai, deep vessels, cooker bodies
~700–1000+2.0–12+14 G–plateNo.1 (HR annealed pickled)Dish-ends, covers, fabrication blanks

Finishes track the sheet or coil the circle gets cut from: No.1 (HR annealed pickled) for thick blanks, 2B for general utensil work, BA (bright annealed) for a bright reflective surface, and mirror for show-grade cookware. When a reflective face is called for, we can supply a mirror finish ss circle or a BA circle, mirror and BA polishing get arranged as finishing job-work. Thickness follows the standard market/Jindal published range (0.3–12 mm+) per ASTM A240. For surface detail, see the SS finishes explained page, or check the mirror finish page.

SS circle weight: how to calculate

The ss circle weight (weight per piece) comes straight from geometry, so there's no guesswork involved. Here's the formula:

Weight (kg) = π/4 × diameter² × thickness × density

With density ≈ 7.9–8.0 g/cm³ for austenitic stainless (8.0 g/cm³ per ASTM A240 is the standard value; ferritic 430 runs a touch lower), here are worked examples at 8.0 g/cm³:

Diameter (mm)Thickness (mm)Approx. weight per piece (kg)
2001.00.25
3001.20.68
4001.51.51
5002.03.14

For any diameter and thickness combination, run the numbers through our SS circle weight calculator, or cross-check against the full SS weight chart. No hand calculations needed.

SS circle price (indicative)

Circles get priced per kg using grade × thickness × quantity, which is why the ss circle price for a small utensil blank won't match a heavy fabrication circle. We publish dated, indicative per-kg tables instead of keeping rates hidden. Still, the number shifts with the market, so confirm today's figure on the RFQ. Think of this table as the rate basis, not a fixed quote.

Applications

Pressure cooker circles for cooker bodies and lids make up the biggest volume among the ss circles used for utensils, but the same blank shows up in dairy and food vessels, dish-ends, covers and general fabrication work too.

Utensils and kitchenware: thali, tope/patila, kadai, tumblers → utensils & kitchenware

  • Cookware & pressure cookers, drawn bodies and lids

Dairy & food-processing vessels, 304/316 blanks → dairy & food processing

  • Covers, dish-ends & fabrication blanks, thicker No.1 circles
  • Fabrication & engineering, end plates and round blanks → fabrication & engineering

Circles get cut from sheet or coil stock, so if flat stock is what you're after, check out our stainless steel sheets and stainless steel coils pages.
